Mr John Dorward
Executive Chairmain

Mr Dorward has over 25 years of experience in the mining and finance industries. Mr Dorward was the CEO of TSX-listed gold producer Roxgold Inc. from 2012 to 2021, where he led the construction of the Yaramoko Gold Mine in Burkina Faso from maiden resource through to production, before Roxgold was acquired by Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. in 2021 for US$884 million.

Mr Dorward’s earlier roles include Vice President of Business Development at Fronteer Gold, a TSX and AMEX-listed mining company with gold and uranium projects in USA, Canada and Turkey, where he was instrumental in negotiating its acquisition by Newmont Mining Corporation for $2.3 billion in 2011.

Mr Dorward also previously served as CFO of ASX and TSX-listed gold company Mineral Deposits Limited and ASX-listed gold producer Leviathan Resources Limited, and was a senior executive with ASX-listed gold and nickel producer MPI Mines Limited.

He is currently a non-executive director Surge Copper Corporation and Taura Gold.

Mr Mark Turner
Non-Executive Director

Mr Turner is a Mining Engineer with over 35 years of experience in the global resources sector. He holds a degree in Mining Engineering from the University of New South Wales and is a Fellow of the AUSIMM.

Mr Turner has been responsible for the development and operation of numerous mines in Australia, East and West Africa and Asia. He was previously General Manager Operations of Resolute Mining Ltd, one of Australia’s largest gold producers. He was also Chief Operating Officer of CGA Mining, where he took the Masbate Gold Project in the Philippines from construction to production before its takeover by B2 Gold Corporation for C$1.1 billion. Mr Turner is currently the Chief Operating Officer of RTG Mining Limited.

Mr Adrian Goldstone
Non-executive Director

Mr Goldstone is a highly credentialed Company Director with more than 35 years’ international minerals industry experience in project development, operations and investment management, with a strong focus on environmental and social sustainability and corporate governance.

He is currently Managing Director – Technical at Dundee Corporation.

Prior to his current role, Mr Goldstone held executive roles in project development, processing operations, and sustainable development.

Mr Paul Weedon
Non-Executive Director

Mr Weedon is a highly-credentialled geologist with more than 30 years of international mining industry experience in exploration and mine development and operations in Africa, Latin America and Australasia. Mr Weedon has held a number of senior roles with mining majors including Fortuna Mining Corp as Senior Vice President Exploration, Vice President Exploration of Roxgold Inc. , Exploration Director – Australia and Exploration Director – Ghana at Newmont Mining and Vice President Business Development – Africa and Geology Manager – West Africa with AngloGold Ashanti. During his five years at Newmont Mr Weedon led the team that discovered the +2 Moz Apensu underground deposit.

Mr Weedon has a BSc in Geology from Curtin University of Technology in Australia and is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists.

Management

Mr Mark Mitchell
Chief Operating Officer

Mr Mitchell is a chemical engineer with extensive mining industry project development and operations experience across a wide range of mineral commodities and jurisdictions. Mr Mitchell has held a number of senior roles including Chief Operating Officer at Merdeka Battery Materials, involved with and responsible for all operational aspects of the large-scale Konawe Nickel Laterite mine and mineral processing facility in South-East Sulawesi including safety, HR, environment, community, capital projects and leading the safe and efficient ramp up in production. Mr Mitchell has extensive gold operations experience, including senior roles with Newcrest as General Manager – Telfer and General Manager – Hidden Valley. In addition, Mark has held senior executive roles with Mount Gibson Iron (COO), Mineral Resources Ltd (EGM Wodgina), Ambatovy Nickel (Madagascar, VP Operations) and a range of other mining companies in a career spanning three decades.

Mr Mitchell has B.E. (Chemical Engineering), 1st Class Honours, University of New South Wales and is a Member of AUSIMM.

Mr Benjamin Stockdale
Chief Financial Officer

Mr Stockdale is a seasoned finance and commercial executive with extensive resources industry experience including the completion of numerous project and corporate debt and equity financings, mergers & acquisitions and metals and concentrates marketing and logistics. Most recently, Ben was the CFO of ASX listed Sunrise Energy Metals Limited.

Mr Denis Rakich
Company Secretary and Commercial Manager

Mr Rakich is an accountant with over 35 years’ experience in the resource sector, legal, financial and corporate management. Mr Rakich was appointed as an Executive Director and Company Secretary on 31 January 2013. Mr Rakich resigned as Executive Director on 17 May 2024, but remains as Company Secretary and Commercial Manager of Ausgold Limited.

Mr Troy Collie
General Manager – Planning, Environment & Approvals

Mr Collie has over 35 years’ experience with environmental aspects of project execution and delivery through his technical contribution to and overseeing environmental planning studies, development planning and environmental compliance assessments reporting.

Prior to joining Ausgold, Mr Collie joined Mount Gibson Iron to lead its environmental assessment and approvals program, with planning, permitting and compliance responsibilities across mine sites drawing on:

  • over thirty-five years’ experience in environment sector disciplines (water, earth and life sciences) and communications;
  • twenty-five years’ experience in Australian government permits, approvals, environmental regulation and consultations; and
  • ten+ years’ industry stakeholder engagement and consultation and mine closure experience.

Prior to the resource sector, Mr Collie consulted into the Australian transport, energy and resource sectors while working at AECOM, Hydro Entura and SKM collectively for over fifteen years. He has also previously worked as an employee for three State Governments (in NSW, Qld and Tasmania) and understands approvals relevant to Commonwealth, West Australian and other State jurisdictions.
